Race Evaluation

US Champs: Day 2 Brown X

1. Bad route choice
Took a chance
Ran too fast
+01:00
Ran road west of junction, then down W. side of large reentrant, crossed stream and up other side. Indecisive. Didn't recognize hooked reentant, but kept going anyway, to run down S. side of large reentrant to find control in front of me. Slow execution.
2. Bad route choice
+01:00
Ran up to road and crossed, plunging into green; lost way and wandered a bit in slow fight. Should have run W. on road, downhill til more open area of large reentrant, keying off small hill on N. side of road.
3. Did not follow plan
+01:30
Pulled off course by curving reentrant into green; heard traffic noise on large road & knew I was too far north. Circled around on broad hilltop to find feature.
4. Downhill through green to stream; up other side, turn right along spur to control.
5. +00:30Nice downhill leg. Couldn't resist doing unnecessary fine detailed navigation. Should have put map away and run harder.
6. Surprisingly good route choice as it turns out: decided that hills weren't so bad that diversion would pay off. So angled directly at control through 4 reentrants, up/down, up/down...
7. Bad route choice
Underrated difficulty
+02:00
Bad route choice. Ditch with control was quite shallow and I missed it on first pass. Should have attacked from road junction to NE.
8. Got hung-up in green fight in vicinity of control. Otherwise well-executed leg.
F. Tired
Run up hill, trying to avoid green patches and deadfall. Getting tired.
