Race Evaluation

Foot-O Mt Billy: Expert1

brycec

1. Unsure when i left the path if I had left in right place - then went with instinct and was right.
2. Helped a group of people looking for same point as me, they put me off course a bit but quickly found where I wanted.
3. 1st person on my course to over take me.
4. A little unsure on distance but gut feel served me correct again.
5.
6. Watch Ricky cruise past me along the side of river - thought about going with my original plan which was to trace river then changed mind back, but drift left before correcting again - blame ricky for that - sure I would have been just as slow either way.
7. Another 2 pass me on same course (I believe)
8.
9. Stopped to help a kid and who was being helped by 1 of the 2 who had passed me. then setoff again with the other H1 guy - he lost me quickly.
10. Surprised to find Ricky lost - I thought he was on his second course - Made me smile knowing that I am not the only one who gets lost haha. followed shortly by maybe 3 or 4 people passing me. Bad nav idea going up the balder spur what was I thinking. Hindsight - this made me extremely tired (fitness and difficulty) and I recall being unsteady on my feet a few points on this minor ascent. need to be careful a fall here would not have ended well - definitely feeling fatigue by this point but determined to keep pushing hard.
11. Another person cruised past me on this leg.
12.
13. Ian cruised past me.
14. Took this leg easy
F. Sprint finish for shits and giggles - take that best split. Overall first time I didn't get hopelessly lost - so in my mind better nav. shaved 8min/km off previous averages - happy days. still heaps of improvement to come. First time I didnt kiss the ground woohoo. post op - killer headache rest of day - quite debilitating - dont know why had drunk 3-4 L from 1 hour before to 1 hour after. 4 l in 4 hr... and proceeded to smash more once home... might need to go from water to electrolytes.
