Race Evaluation

Billygoat: Billygoat XXIX

PG

1. Overall, goal was to not do any more damage to my left hamstring, so I walked every step in the woods or rough open. On the trails, I jogged at a slow pace if the footing was ok and it was flat or down. Very pleasantly surprised to do no damge and get around in 2.5 hours.
2. Probably the only one to skip #2. Purely for health reasons, thought the odds were too great of an early slip/fall and wrenched hamstring on the long sidehill.

5. +00:30Had trouble with this one, seemed too far from the towers.

7. Went to the one closer to #8.

10. Bit of a visit with Steve Tarry on the way. We soon parted.

12. Bit of a visit with Mark Dominie on the way. We soon parted.
13. +01:00Very brief visit with Judy Karpinski (out on a birding trip) on the way. Missed this control to the right (coming from below). Something seemed strange.

F. A pleasant stroll up the chute. And a very enjoyable Billygoat. Brought back memories of ultras and rogaines, where if you're breathing hard, you just slow down until it passes. Felt like I could have gone around the course again without too much a slower time, though that is clearly easier said than done.... :-)
