The woods at Sessions are in their full summer glory: lots of ferns, sections of blueberry, thickish greenery. In other words the full complement of things to keep us all out of the summer woods - unless you are determined and want a start on preparing for the busy fall schedule. In that case this will be perfect! The courses are carefully designed to allow the adventurous to make the most of all that green stuff, but the clever can take much faster routes and seldom need to dodge a leaf. Will be for you to decide. Five course menu:

White: 1.4k; 7 controls; A bit of climb
Yellow: 2.9; 8; Bit more
Orange: 4.3; 11; A few to deal with
Green: x.x; xx; Fair amount
Red: 6.2; 24; Eh! But of course.

Middle of a lazy end of summer Labor Day weekend - perfect time for a fun run in the woods.

UPDATE: 8/21/11

Normally I set courses to avoid routes along trails. After our recent trip to delightful European woods that proved advantageous to run trails if possible, I designed these courses. The Green course wasn't right, and so has been altered, as follows:

Green: 4.3k; 14 controls; there will be some climb.

So, the Orange, Green and Red courses focus on trail runs to an attack point and in to a control, or two or three, perhaps back to a trail, etc. The trail run is of course optional and could lead to interesting comparisons, if the courses are run both ways. This is practice after all.

UPDATE 9/3/11

Woods are in fine condition. Still summer foliage. Little sign of Irene, just a few random trees or parts fallen.
