This a middle distance venue with intricate terrain. The area has lots of small hills, depressions and ponds created during the1964 magnitude 9.2 earthquake. The map is at 1:4000 with 1.25m contours. There will be 5 courses from white (1.7km, 10 controls) to red (4.9km, 23 controls).

The vegetation has not leafed out, so visibility is great and there are no mosquitoes. Thanks to the great ski season we had, there is still snow on the ground (particularly in north facing pockets) and lots of melt water - expect very wet feet. Some ponds are still covered with snow and slush, so it can be hard to see the water's edge. Trails are less distinct than usual, being still covered in snow and last falls leaf litter.
