Manitoba Orienteering Championships

Cypress River, MB, CA
Sep 30 – Oct 1, 2017

Type: Orienteering - Regional

added by: t_graupner

The 2017 Manitoba Orienteering Championships (MOCs) will be held in the same area as the 2017 Western Canadian Orienteering Championships (WCOCs). The Sprint and Long will be held on the new Cypress River Sand Hills map (made for the 2017 WCOCs), while the Middle will be held on the 2009 Hog's Back map (made for the 2009 COCs). By early October, the poison ivy should be mostly gone and the green will be a little easier to go through.

Note that the terrain is very similar to that of JWOC 2018, so these events could be good for training! If needed, some of us can provide rides from the Winnipeg airport.

Event entry will cost $15 per race, or $40 for all three races. No banquet is being organized, but many of us plan to have supper at the Sand Hills Casino on Hwy-5, which offers a buffet.

As the events are planned, details will be posted on the following pages:
Sprint (Saturday, Sep. 30, 12:00 PM): https://moa.whyjustrun.ca/events/view/2828
Middle (Saturday, Sep. 30, 2:00 PM): https://moa.whyjustrun.ca/events/view/2829
Long (Sunday, Oct. 1, 11:00 AM): https://moa.whyjustrun.ca/events/view/2830

Note that due to the lack of trails on the Cypress River Sand Hills map, there will probably be no beginner courses (Course 1 & 2).
