Six courses, from untimed map hike to Blue
JROTC competition on Yellow, Orange and Green
More great news about the orienteering event at Oscar Scherer State Park on January 25th. The longer Blue course will officially be a SUPER BLUE course at least 15 and probably closer to 17 km in length. It will have all the navigational challenge you expect in the longer orienteering course and enough of a physical challenge to tempt the toughest adventure racers. The standard 3 hour time limit will be lifted for this course as long as the team finishes by course closing time of 3 PM. Start times from 10 AM to noon. Participants must carry their own water but there will be a midway return through the event 'arena' / hash house to allow a refill of water containers.
Pre-entry is not required but it is advised. Entry forms can be found via the Suncoast tab at www.floridaorienteering.org
I regret to tell you that the MTB-O event Sunday the 26th hs definitely been cancelled. Apparently there is a conflict with another park event. Contact suncoast_orienteering@yahoo.com if you would like to bike around the park looking for the locations where controls would have been placed. No competition, no prizes but the map will cost only $3.
