From the event bulletin:

Insects in the Forest are numerous. Mosquitoes and wasps are the most irritating. Mosquitos can carry the West Nile Virus. DEET products work well for preventing mosquito bites and higher percent DEET products are recommended. The primary danger with wasps is stepping on the nest, so watch your feet placement when numbers of those insects are spotted.

due to the very high moisture this year, bugs may be more prevalent than usual, bring deet.
pre spraying clothing with a permethrin compund such as Sawyers does a great job of killing ticks before they get to your skin.
word has it that there are very few bush flies this year, saving them all for 14th WRC in Alice.
