OK, the 2014 World Orienteering Championships are over, and it was a wonderful week of live results, gps tracking, and Per. OK, I didn't pony up any euro because I only tuned in about 60 minutes total, but I did love listening to Per, and the live results were quite good when I was able to play along.

So, it would not have been a fine week without the leading cast.

Thank you to the members of the USA Team. USA Team - big and small...well, small, because this small picture was the only one I could find...

Alex Jospe
Ali Crocker
Hannah Culberg
Samantha Seager
Tori Borish

Eric Bone
Ethan Childs
Giacomo Barbone
Ross Smith
Wyatt Riley

Extra points to the team members who logged during the event. No offense to the others, but I am living vicariously here...

USA team member alternate Cristina Luis, reporting from Norway, posted daily to the OUSA Orienteering Team Blog. The blog, as well as Cristina's insight as a team member, was appreciated by many - example from another AP log: I, from the *other* other side of the world, have enjoyed Cristina's diligent AP posts/updates during each race and the occasional (appropriately US-related) pride & consistent humour. Maybe I should read the US team blog now...

Men's team alternate, Ken Walker (Mr. AttackPoint), was in Italy, and with press credentials, he took some wonderful photos:

The USA and Canadian teams continued their tradition of close competitions, including a great blog from Canada.

BTW, the USA and Canadian teams are gearing up for the 2014 North American Orienteering Championships in October 2014. Details here - it will be epic!!

Thank you to the 5 Days of Italy participants who logged their runs, especially PG and Matej. Most likely others, but these two included maps as well, so bonus points.

USA team member, Ethan Childs, and alternate Matej Sebo are on their way to Bulgaria for the Junior World Orienteering Championships.

And, if you have missed it, this is the blog to follow for an insight on what is going on with the USA junior team - um, only slightly biased since Addie is a QOC member...Junior in Europe blog.

US results are collected on this page also spelled out below (along with links to Ken's photo albums, one of which has a larger team photo).

Thanks to Valerie for her compilation. And special thanks to the US Team members who give so much of themselves to get to a level of competitiveness and cooperation to make the team as successful as it is. It was fun watching from the distant sidelines, and I hope one year to watch in person!

Next up, JWOC! I promise a similar compilation on the OUSA website for the juniors, but maybe not as timely.

Where can I find the USA team's goals for WOC 2014 (not the strategic goals)? How did the team do compared to their goals?
