A great group of people. USMAOC seems to be a theme. They are physically fit and have great maps to train on. They also had Michael Hendricks helping them improve. The two non USMAOC on the team had a high bar to reach and they are to commended for their hard work. Go WUOC Team!

Wow west point..... the only college that actually has an orienteering "programme".
Aren't officers of the future meant to be endurance monsters anyways?

"The two non USMAOC on the team had a high bar to reach and they are to commended for their hard work."

This confuses me... What high level events have the USMAOC run before?
(both non west pointers have(are) run(ing) at WOC....)

While I see your point Colm, EChild was not making a serious point.

I think he is referring to P Goodwins comment, not Ethan's.

Well, so much for slacking off at practice post-A Meet and focusing on Graduation and Graduation Leave for the Class of 2014. Back to work!

Congrats, all!

Will It is sadly every two years the world unis. However if from your age tag on here i'm right and your still a junior I REALLY hope you are working with Erin and the juniors! Erin is a great coach! Really wish I had him when I was a junior and they all seem to be doing really well. SO hope to see you on the JWOC team next year :)

Whats the difference between university and jwoc?
May 7, 2014 6:14 PM #
Becks:
JWOC is 17(ish) -20 yrs, WUOC is 18-26, and you must be a student at a university.

Cristina:
And only JWOC is an actual IOF championship event. WUOC is an outside event (like the Military Champs) that attracts a good field.

Erin Schirm coaches the Junior Standing Team, 24 top US athletes up to the age of 20 who train year-round for orienteering. Every year there are selection criteria put in place by the Junior Team Steering Committee for JWOC. Every other year selection criteria for WUOC are put forward by, I think, the senior team ESC.

This year it turns out that every junior selected to race at JWOC is on the Standing Team - a testament to the value of regular training with a team and getting good coaching. You can find out more about the standing team at our Facebook page.
