Cali Cowboy:
I will send a some team Tecnu sponsors' Schwag out to a random picked handful of the people that respond. Thanks!!

What brand MTB map board holder do you use (or how you hold your map on the MTB for navigation races)?
Where did you get it from?
Where do you live?

Thanks,
Kyle

Surely you have seen the AR Navigation Supplies board that several of us in BAOC use, Kyle. I got mine from Scarborough Orienteering. But I'll reply anyway, in hopes of getting some of that schwag!

AutoPilot map boards are sold through Orienteering USA to help raise funds for the US MTBO Team, as well as to support the growth of MTBO nationwide. All information is here:

AxisGear Nav360 (because I don't break mine as often as tRicky)
Bought online about 5 years ago, either from Axis or a distributor.
Perth, Australia with the rest of the cool kids.

The rest of the cool kids have moved onto Autopilot!! Maybe with your new (secondhand borrowed) bike you will have an excuse to upgrade. See you at Banyowla.

You have to use it to be able to break it.

I've tried a couple of homemade systems. As infrequently as I MTB-O (even having directed a MTB-O last year including modifying the map), it's difficult to make the case for a swanky, purpose-built reader.

I have minimal MTB-O experience, but my chosen method so far is to hold the map crumpled up in one hand and hope for the best. The AutoPilots look great, though.

Toying with the idea to go to the MTB-O Worlds this or next summer.

1. DIY one: 5 inch bolt, some nuts, velcro, plastic board, tape and love for building stuff.
2. Parts: Home Depot, Design: a slightly dysfunctional brain
3. Seattle

In Middle Europe the Miry stuff (from Czech) is very popular:

I used one for a while (bought direct at miry.cz) but then stuck back to a DIY model.

Axis Nav 360, bought from Axis Canada when they used to sell them online eons ago. If it ever breaks looks like the way to go is Auto Pilot!

We've got Prickly Moses and tRicky often maps old trails that are overgrown with it.

"This prickly shrub is useful as a screen to inhibit animal and human access to areas". Aha. The ideal solution where you want to forbid off-track riding.
