Eric Batty and Ryan Atkins (winner of the 2013 World Toughest Mudder) squeeked out a 10 point win to repeat as Salomon Snowshoe Raid winners at Blue Mountain Resort last Saturday. This year's race started with a 210m climb up the Niagara Escarpment and then raced into the Loree forest. > 90 teams of 2 raced in this the 8th Snowshoe Raid. Here is an account of Ryan Atkin's race.

Links to results and FB photos are on the race web site.

Next Raid in the DontGetLost Adventure Running series is the Salomon Giant's Rib Raid on May 4th. A portion of this race will take place on a new map never used before and a revision of an area last used in the late 1970's.

Earlier this week Get Out There Magazine (Readers' Choice Awards) voted the Snowshoe Raid and the Raid the Hammer as top snowshoe race and top orienteering race in Canada, respectively.

very interesting format this year- and with 3 teams within 10 points definitely was interesting route choices and planning.. i liked that.. and if you wanna add more points on the series OARPS ( http://www.oarps.ca/schedule.html) your next event is less than 3 weeks away Stars W*A*R ( http://stars.whyjustrun.ca/events/view/1239 )

Having seen the course map for the STARS W*A*R I can say with certainty that this is going to be an interesting race of snowshoe vs. ski vs both? strategy. Mansfield is a great area for skiing and snowshoeing and there is plenty of snow this year.
