RWorner:
Linda and I visited Scottie Pleban last week. He is now in a skilled nursing facility in Lancaster, New York just East of Buffalo. http://www.niagaralutheran.org/content/pages/nursi...

After his accident Scottie received treatment in Virginia and was then moved to the Erie County Medical Center in Buffalo to be closer to his family and to continue rehabilitation. Scottie was making slow, but steady improvement at UCMC. We visited him there once and observed his determination during a rehabilitation session. Unfortunately, Scottie experienced some medical problems during rehabilitation that left him less responsive to treatment. It was determined that this lack of responsiveness made him a poor candidate for further extensive rehabilitation efforts at UCMC. As a result, he was moved to the skilled nursing facility where he receives only limited rehab services. It is hoped that his responsiveness will improve and that he will be able to resume a more comprehensive rehab program in the near future. His parents said that recovery from brain injuries is often hard to predict and that still remain hopeful for his recovery.

Scott has regained some of the weight he lost and he has a very comfortable single room at Greenfield's. His parents and sister visit him almost every day and continue to share letters, e-mail messages and pictures with him. They greatly appreciate any support they receive. You can send him an e-mail message via,

This spring the Ski O Team will be honoring Scottie at the OUSA Ski Championships at Trapp Family Lodge in Vermont.
