Discussion: Accommodations for US Ski-O Champs Stowe, Vermont

I've not seen anything yet on the website on possible accommodation arrangements or even a full schedule, but I got an email today about a Groupon accommodation discount at Stowe, 3.1 miles from the Trapp Family Lodge: $139 on Fri. and Sat. nights, $104 other nights. Also, I'd be interested in sharing accommodations, particularly for the weekend. I might arrive as early as Wednesday night to do some skiing beforehand. Here's the info on the O USA website:
"The 2014 U.S. Ski Orienteering Championships will be hosted by CSU, GMOC, and the U.S. Ski-O Team at the Trapp Family Lodge, Stowe, Vermont, March 14-16, 2014. The Championships include Sprint, Middle, Long races. Clinics will be taught by U.S. Ski-O Team members."
[I'd have posted under events, but I don't see it on the Attackpoint list.]

With respect to accommodation, we are in a bit of a situation in that the event is at the Trapp Family lodge and they are one of the main sponsors. Unfortunately, even their special discount rate is expensive ($235/night) but, since they are a sponsor, we (me), are hesitant to recommend other specific accommodation. However there are many small hotels/motels/rentals in the stowe area. Try searching this link: www.gostowe.com

Stowe is a Resort town and accommodation can be pricey. It's a bit further but Barre, Montpelier, Williston, South Burlington have less expensive options ($80+/night range) and are about 1 hr. away.

Thanks for the current link, carlch. I see the model event is on Thursday and it looks like there's lots of skiing in Stowe beyond the embargoed area. The Groupon deal is now shown as being available for 14 days. Discount is 22% on weekends and 30% on weekdays.

Try Morrisville VT for motels. There is a nice one with good meals on 100/15 on the north side of town. I've only stayed there in the summer during bike rides from Ottawa to Kennebunkport so I slept a lot but enjoyed the dinner and breakfast. Sorry that I cannot recall the name but I do recall Morrisville is very close to Stowe.
