Time "is running" to apply for the 2013/2014 Iain Wilson Character Through Competition Award. The award provides two $1,000 grants each
year to young orienteers in the USA.

The deadline is December 31, 2013.

In case you haven't seen it elsewhere, or have forgotten, all details are here.

Iain Wilson was an accomplished orienteer who represented the USA at various international competitions over a number of years. He was a joyful dynamo; and a truly special athlete and friend to many of us.

While Iain’s life was tragically cut short in 2008, his legacy lives on through his family and friends. By creating this award, we strive to support young athletes in orienteering, which was Iain’s sport of choice. Through this endeavor we hope we can help them develop their own character and sense of purpose as juniors, as he did.

I hadn't seen this before. It's a nice touch to remember Iain, a clubmate twice over, taken from us too soon in Edinburgh. His enthusiasm, positivity and soup was an inspiration to us all.
