I must credit Bob Boltz of North East Ohio Orienteering Club for coming up with this comment: "you have found the tracks of a giant wild
turkey. Happy Thanksgiving!"
Any orienteers attacked by
wild turkeys?
A couple of weeks ago I ran through a herd of wild turkeys while orienteering. They were so indifferent to my passing that it distracted me and I ran right by the control.
Boy, those contours need some smoothing.
In that same park with the pipelines, today found real turkey
tracks
Is that a dollar bill or one of those beach towels that looks like a dollar bill? Need to know to determine scale.
I was chased by a wild turkey once while training on my own. I wasn't sure if it was just bluffing, but decided not to find out.
And if it wasn't, you were afraid that it would do... what? Chop your head off, take you home, stuff you and roast you? A turkey doesn't seem particularly scary to me, and seems like it would be vulnerable to a solid kick if it came to that.
Turkey scariness is a matter of opinion. But Scots turkeys already mobilised
to cancel WOC
