May 28, Monday Memorial day to remember. Mass start at 11:00 AM.
DVOA Jukola team will conduct relay specific training on Stucky Pond Map
Gregory Balter is setting courses for this event. Every member of DVOA, HVO, WCOC SVO, QuanticoOC, CNYO, EMPO, CSU, NEOC, UNO (did I forget anybody :) is invited – the more of you come more exiting and interesting it will be. Parking details will need to be figured out (follow event announcements later on), since staging area is ~ 1 km west from PEEC in the woods.
How does it work?
This event is training – it is free of charge to everyone attending.
Vicious forking is planned for 6 loops on 1:10000 map, total length ~ 10 km.
The loop’s length varies from 1.4 km to 1.7 km, there are going to be 5 map exchanges.
All participants will compete/train in two categories: one man relay (OMR), and two man relay (TMR).
In one man relay runner will complete all 6 loops, two man relay runners will run alternate legs – runner A – legs 1, 3, and 5, runner B - legs 2, 4, and 6.
Since it is training we will use honor system for punching – runner must touch control code plate, not the bag, and have to make sure the number is identical to his map. Control codes will be printed next to control sequence number. Clue sheets will be printed on the map as well. Everyone reported not to touch control code plate will have to do 15 penalty push-ups before the beginning of the next leg :). Everyone responsible for grabbing someone else’s map at the exchange will have to do 30 penalty push-ups.
Maps will be pre-printed, so we will need everyone who is planning to attend this madness relay, to send e-mail with your name, club and planned category (OMR, TMR) to
gregb@lpsphoto.com
The teams for TMR will be formed by organizers to make them as close in strength as possible. Teams of 3 or 6 runners are possible.
Time table:
Pre-registration begins today and will end on Thursday, May 24, 2007. If you decide to come last minute we will admit more people based on printed maps availability.
Registration at event set up area will open at 9:00 and end at 10:30- we just assign your team number, followed by short demonstration of the exchange procedures and mass start at 11:00 AM.
Do not forget that DVOA is hosting regular local meet day before on Sunday, May 27, using same map, for more info – visit DVOA web site.
Insanity! Vicious forking and penalty push-ups. Just keep the micro-o out of it!
I am planning Dusk-O training event on Saturday night, May 26. Mass start around 8 PM - bring your headlamps.
Start not too far from PEEC, course will be ~ 5 km long.
Maps will be pre-printed.
Here is the location for Monday morning Start - I will be there from 9 AM

Rumor has it that you can park along the road that is across the street from the start - you can just see the beginning of this road under the north arrow heading off to the NW. No idea how many cars there's room for though.
Greg, did you mention camping posibilities?
oohh, that's really tempting. Kind of far though. Do you have an address so I can google map it? Sounds like a lot of fun.
There's also training Saturday night.
This address works:
Brisco Mt Rd, Tamiment, PA 18371
That's the curved road to the northeast of the start.
We have 2 camp sites reserved for about 10 tents minimum (5 each) - as of now we have 9 tents. we still have space for 1 or 2 tents
Note that seperate
pre-registration is requested if you intend to run the club race on Sunday. The event director may run out of maps if unexpected people come from out of town.
Saturday - Dusk-O info:
Start, Finish is planned 50 m west of PEEC main building - information center.
Mass Start around 8 PM
Course: 6.9 km, 250 m climb, 18 controls
Course has 2 loops - after 5.2 km it passes next to PEEC – second loop is a little bit more technical (some green vegetation is involved).
Control time 90 min.
See you our there
