It looks like Ski-O will be in the Winter World University Games - 2019 in Krasnoyarsk (Russia, Eastern Siberia).
As host-city they can include two additional sports into the program of the Games. One of them is likely to be - Bandy

and another - Ski-O.
Looks a lot like ice hockey, or hockey if you come from an ice dominated country.
Doesn't sound like it...
"physical contact between opponents is limited".
Limited to below the head?
You know, all the bandy fans talk about how it's 'soccer on ice' and 'not at all like ice hockey', but I call bullshit. I was watching some kids playing bandy yesterday and, aside from the lack of fistfights, it just looked like they kids were playing ice hockey with ball and a funny stick.
Bandy is field hockey juiced up a bit and served over ice. It is what the British soldiers were playing in Canada back in the 1800s. Someone just called it ice hockey and a new sport was invented.
Isn't that also how Canada was invented? It was originally part of the US but they juiced it up a bit and served it over ice.
And, yet, serving brewed tea over ice, is practically unheard of up there...
What's the age limit for World Uni Games? I'm trying to think of Canadian Orienteers who might be eligible and won't already be racing on the Nordic team.
If it's the same as summer orienteering you have to be 28 or younger as of January of the WUOC year, I think... (
some explanation)
