I recall talking with Walk re GhettOcad. Am most interested but first one needs an iPad, then GC, then voila, easy mapping it seems. Certainly gps-pinpointing of one's location on a basemap should be baseline. The days of sighting relative boulder relationships etc should be past.

I have yet to be able to useGPS with ghettocad.
GPSworksfine, and is accurate with other apps, but in GC it places me miles off the map, which I have never been able to geo reference. I am working with old maps which I load to the iPad,andthat may be the root of the problem.
That said, as Ispent years without gps, using GC is faster than pencils as one does not have to trace the map into OCAD.

How does one get GhettOcad ? Ssounds like an ideal tool for fieldwork with an iPad. Assume it ts compatible with OCAD proper. Advice appreciated.

I find gps and gmaps to be invaluable with GC. Both are really useful for mapping in the field and when home adding details to the map.

QR (of course) won't give you a track accurate enough to put on the map without going back out to make adjustments in the field. I suppose, though I haven't used it, GC allows you to make adjustments as you go along, which is much more efficient.

Are you warning us against coming out to High Rock on Sunday? I've never been there.

Bill - Contact Biggins or go here. GC is compatible with ocad 8.

Contact Biggins directly, provide him the serial number of your iPad. I have had GC on my iPad for a while, but either not confident enough or just not capable enough to figure out how to use it. Perhaps George will take pity on me someday and give me some instruction.

You should get the Ghettocad Main screen. Click the Help link for instructions on installation. But first you have to send Greg the long form serial number which is available when your iPad is hooked up to iTunes. You have to click through the serial numbers to get the long one. He will then send you the file link authorization.

George, some of us would really benefit from a GC demo at French Creek this coming weekend. So come prepared, please:).
