It did occur to me (after I printed the maps) that I had forgotten to cut the circles. I figured it was impractical to correct, though it clearly made it harder for you to execute the leg to 7. Sorry about that.

OK , but please consider changing the default of 0mm from line to circle.
I wish there was some way of making, say, 5mm the default.

For all of the trainings that we do for Linné, I always cut the circles, and I think that most of the others do as well. I also always cut the lines. So, it is done by people here, even when we have 1 or more trainings a week with printed maps. It's not an issue of offset printing vs. computer printing, it's an issue of the person taking the time to do it. It's easy.

I think it's important to cut circles and lines where they cover stuff, but I'm not a huge fan of the lines that are automatically not touching the circles, for no good reason - definitely cut if they're covering something. That just makes it harder to follow the purple lines in between the purple circles, which are obviously just standing there in real life for you to see!

I wonder if setting the default at say, 5mm would make the job a bit faster, rather than looking at every line to see if it covers something near the circle.
I would think a line which came within 5mm of the control circle would be sufficient to guide your eye to the correct spot. And I take bearings along those lines a lot, I would be more than willing to give up 10mm of line to be able to see the approach to the control clearly every time.

I don't think purple pen - which has numerous advantages as the standard course setting software for occasional directors - has a setting for the spacing between the course lines and the control circles. That said, cutting the lines when they obscure features is straightforward. It takes perhaps ten minutes before printing, and I will be sure to include it in the event director checklist. I just forgot to do it at this meet. As Sam said, it's easy.

Purple Pen 2.0 (way better output, vectors, yay!) has improved the line cutting functions to make it even easier.

I usually use the OCAD software I guess.
Note, I should download PP 2.0..........
