Does anyone happen to be going to Antigua in the near future? Would you like to take over work on an ‘unsolicited’ orienteering map of the northeastern part of the island?
My wife and I were recently thinking of spending a week or two in Antigua. We even had a potential resort picked out not far from the town of Willikies. As is my habit I checked out the available air photos of the area, found an interesting network of roads and fair amount of trails through forests so I started to work on an orienteering map using information I could glean from the air photos.
Now our plans have changed and we won’t be going to Antigua (this year). Rather than see the work go to waste I’d pass the map draft on to anyone going to the island who might like to advance the project. The map area is about 4 km x 2.5 km.
I could not find a source for contour detail so the map is two dimensional. If anyone can point me to a contour map of Antigua I would include it before passing on the map.

Openstreetmap bike map has contours, no idea what is the source.

Thanks guys. Those are the best examples I've been able to find, too. Bubo as you see that relief map shows there is a lot of topographical change but the best Open Street Map has is probably about 50 foot contour intervals. I'll go with that for now. I've also been able to study some of the posted photos on Google Earth and guess at the contours in certain locations.
There is a company that will custom make a contour map from LiDAR data (they say) but they seem to not allow the purchaser any choice in the contour interval or give any indication of what that interval will be.

OSM contours are from SRTM-data (http://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/SRTM) with resolution of 90 meters outside US...

Never been to Antigua, but if it's anything like St. Maarten, the vegetation can be formidable. I wouldn't want to go off-trail in it.

There is a fair amount of mixed rangeland in Antigua. It is not all thick bush, The attraction is in what seems to be an extensive network of trails and small roads. Unlike Bermuda, for instance, the roads don't seem to be very busy in the part of the island that has my interest.
By the way, I've been able to add contours with a 10 m interval and am looking for something more precise. The offer of a partially ready map still stands.
