It's the first day of O-Fest 2013 and you know what that means?

Yes it means that registration for next year's North American Champs is open.

The official invitation has just been published and we're getting prepared to set up our tent at O-Fest.
Who will be the #first to register?

Absolutely stunning invitation and brochure. Really looking forward to this event. Glad to see that the NAOC will once again be *the* race weekend to attend in North America.

Congrats to AG and the Waddsquad! That was fast off the draw!

Super cool to see such interest so far out from the event. 12 hours after registration has opened and we're already at 12 registrants... at this rate we'll be at ~8500 participants by the time registration closes in a year ;-)

Okay, so I don't think we're ready for 8500 participants, but thanks to the 18 who registered on our first weekend!

Oh, and thanks immensely to James Richardson and Jeff T for creating that amazing invitation.

Yeah, it's great, as is the website. Will have to peruse that shortly :-)

Could the invitation be made available as a PDF file?
Sep 25, 2013 2:33 AM #

Why do you need a .pdf?
Sep 25, 2013 1:19 PM #
Canadian:
Guy, if you want a pdf file open the invitation in issuu and click the share button below the document. That will open up a white box below and in that there is a link to download. That will download a pdf of the invitation.

On that note... we do encourage everyone to share the invitation. Take control and invite your friends!

It says I need to log in to something in order to download.

Or "Facebook in", which I would prefer not to do...

Guy, others,

You can now access a downloadable pdf version of the Invitation via the website. Look for the little "pdf file" like at the bottom of the Invitation button.

Sorry that took me so long to get to.

Just because it's winter doesn't mean you can't think orienteering! We can now say that NAOC2014 is this year so it's time to start thinking more seriously about registering. Prices go up a the end of January so register now!

The bulletin only lists current pricing. How much do we save by registering now?

Janet, the adult price goes up by $20 if you're registering for 2 or 3 events.

Guskov's link is good with the full description of the prices.

Does the full refund by August 31 policy apply only for the extras, or for everything?
Jan 8, 2014 2:56 PM #
Canadian:
Hi Guy,

There will be a full refund on any extras. If you want a refund on your race fees there will be an admin fee of $20.

Is the exact location of the event center known? I wasn't able to find it on the website.

While you're answering questions....

Do you know what the start window will be on Sunday? We might be attending a wedding on Saturday in DC, and the earliest possible arrival into the Ottawa airport would be 9:32am Sunday morning.

ebone, the event center location is shown on the google map on the hospitalities page. It's a bit hidden. Sorry about that - I'll fix that on the website this weekend.

Pink Socks, we don't have that information but based on last year it will probably be a 3 hour start window likely starting at 9:00. We're leaving enough time so we can have mostly separate elite races to build on the spectator experience seen at the 2012 North Americans.

It's about a 45 minute drive from the Airport to the Hidden Meadows Farm (the middle and long arena) so we should be able to fit you in at the end of the start window.
