Such a good idea. But the current system of "planned obsolescence" is so lucrative to phone producers, it's hard to imagine that this could ever get off the ground.

Weight & volume-wise phones are a drop in the bucket. We have two microwaves that don't work - may inquire into getting one fixed. Beth says no more of them. We can live w/o. Whatever happened to all the analog TVs in the US when consumers had to have flat panel digital, huge at that? Everything piled on the trash heap of indulgent civilization. We need a bonafide religion - one of re-cycling every last bit of detritus as if our lives depended on it.
