Daze 3 happened, and there were cattle and ranchers, too. And although it may be immodest of me (but if I don't play my guitar, then who will?), I will take credit for having arranged a fairly spectacular downhill finish.

More to follow.

I think we need photographic evidence of the cattle, please.

Here are a bunch of beef cattle clustered around one of the few bays in the world that asks a question: "Are You Experienced Bay?" This image is from later in the day, and while it's the same pasture, these cattle have drifted south off of the map to catch a drink. It's no surprise they got thirsty from their orienteering antics (chasing orienteers around) in the warm summer sun.

They are actually not quite as blood thirsty as they look in this imagery.

Today's course:

The cattle had entrenched along the west slope of the creek after #9, and were waiting in ambush in the sage.

Is remarkable boulder perfect boulder or merely remarkable?

Remarkable Boulder is a remarkable boulder and not to be confused with Perfect Boulder.

Here is what Daze 3 looks like in the beginning:

Ludwig Hill is about to claim 1st place on Green and was the first runner of any course to finish today. A lot of people thought it wasn't Ludwig at all and were sure it was a giant yellow jacket. But it wasn't a giant yellow jacket. It was Ludwig. Ludwig is from Tucson and keeps asking if winter is setting in, because it feels so cool to him. Well, he has that part right: the Laramie Range is one pretty cool place to orienteer, and that's for sure.

Here's what it looks like in the middle:

It only looks like a stick figure, but actually it is the always effervescent Greg Balter framed against the azure Wyoming sky. Run, Greg, run! You can never be sure which race will be the last, so run, Greg, run!

And here is what it looks like at the end:

Nearly everyone has left and the clouds have moved in. It's somewhere between poignant and sad to compare against the bustle and activity that was taking place only a half hour earlier, and has always seemed so to me. And yet all things must pass.
