Saturday's
Stage 20 of this year's Tour includes a loop through the WOC 2011 terrain, passing right by the finals arena in La Feclaz. Looks like a cat 1 climb to the Mont Revard summit. Should be fun to revisit those twisty roads that everyone had to go up and down every day for WOC.
Thanks for the heads-up Eddie. It will add another level of enjoyment to my viewing tomorrow. And it will be interesting to see if Phil and Bobke have any gee-whiz comments about the terrain as the lead riders struggle up to the summit.
And after Mont Revard they'll finish on Le Semnoz where the World Cup races and WOC training camp was in October 2010. So lots of orienteering maps on television tomorrow.
The other night, the final Jeopardy! answer was "What is the Tour de France?" and NObody got it.
Clue was something like "___, the first winner of this race had a time of 94:xx." (hours) Alex (Trebek, host) even pronounced the winner's name ("___") with a French accent!
Hey, cut them some slack. When Jeopardy contestants don't know something, they aren't able to just Google it like everyone almost everyone else. ;-)
of course Alex can pronounce things with a French accent. he's Canadian.
Watching Le Tour live right now. Starting the climb to Le Revard at this very moment. Lots of familiar views - Croix de Nivelet among others...
No vid for me :( NBC isn't showing it. Cartoons instead.
Eurosport is showing the whole thing more or less live. Missed a few days when I was in Finland.
Jens Voigt did the climb to Mont Revard at an avg of 25kph. Nice solo ride.
Also looks like they resurfaced the road through Le Feclaz.
There's some random German M40 in the lead ... what sort of elite sport is that?
Yeah, crazy. And he's pulling away on the downhill. Superior weight?
I love the little icon they show for punctures on the live tracking. Ssssssssss......
