Board has approved the 2014 US Interscholastic Championships to be at Flying Pig on April 4-6 near Oxford Ohio and Liberty Indiana. More details soon.
Ohhh-kaaay... I will have to look into that one! Don't think I've seen that critter before.
It's a reference to an
episode of BBC's Sherlock Holmes.
Is the event going to be ML or CC?
As far as I know, the format is currently TBD.
I would not expect much more from Mike until next week...
@yurets: Liberty, IN, teams go by the "Patriots" moniker.
@GuyO: The shirt is a reference to an
episode of BBC's Sherlock Holmes.
As far as I know, the format is currently TBD.
Interesting, a club can win a bid without a format? I'd be surprised if it's still TBD.
If so, I guess the bid I wrote for 2012 was way too detailed, then!
Yes, the Hounds of Baskerville, an adaptation of The Hound of the Baskervilles. However, it appears that yurets added "Liberty, In" to the image. No idea what "H.O.U.N.D." is supposed to stand for, though.
I cannot speak for the Sanctioning Committee (aka, feet), but since the IS Champs are limited to CC or ML, I suspect that OCIN got approval for either/or, with a definitive determination required by some number of months or weeks prior to the event. If this were 3 months in advance, rather than 11, I suspect they would have been more insistent on a specific format.
Patriots do not watch BBC. QED
Is everybody going to need to run wearing gas masks?
No, but the entry form will be used for background check, due to proximity of the CIA facility; make sure you possess a passport valid 6 months beyond the date of the event.
@PinkSocks---I didn't understand your "CC or ML" terminology.
Subject to change, of course, the current plan is Middle-Long-Middle. We're considering adding a sprint, but there are problems.
CC = classic-classic, ML = middle-long (these are the two format options of Interscholastics per the rules (changed for 2013).
For 2012, we bid for a SML, but we couldn't have two championship races on the same day, so we switched to a CC, with an unsanctioned sprint relay, which I think worked out for the better.
CC (CedarCreek) is right about MLM format. Fri will be a sanctioned middle but only Sat and Sun will count in the IS Champs.
Event Information is posted. Registration will open in early February.
No Liberty, IN? What a disappointment...
Liberty is very close and is where the dinner and sprint will be held. But there are not any motels in Liberty. There is a good Mexican restaurant, Pizza King (yum with lots more than pizza), Liberty Bell, Jays, and a Subway.
