Had the same control, approaching from a diffferent angle. Initially thought it was a rockface in a slot, until I got in the area and saw only one side of a slot coming in from above.

Then someone coming in from one side and someone else leaving from the other gave a strong indication where the flag was...

When my sweep of options failed to find 7, I went toward the last familiar point near the swamp and stopped on top of a knoll: "time to figure this out by thinking & looking". On the map, I saw a big reentrant beyond the CP, looked up and saw a big reentrant in the terrain in front of me a short way off. An "ahh" moment. That said, I think the RF belongs on the brown line immediately NW - that would put it in the reentrant where it clearly was.

The connecting line from the 7 to 8 circles almost looks like the two contour lines are one loop to the south west of the control, even though one is an index line. So a glance on the run easily leads to the confusion. I got it but then went on to a big loss at 8.
