Evocative, although sepia tones would be apropos! Mind you, the track surface, gear and waterfall start put this firmly in the "modern era". Actually I can't ever remember running a waterfall start race back in college- barrel for large fields in the distance races and standard curve starts certainly. Maybe fields weren't that big back then?
Waterfall start - had not seen & did not know that was the term. Saturday, it seemed If there were fewer than 8, each starter got a lane. Then the standard curve kicked in competitor-wise, then the waterfall for 10, used once.
The Anthony Plansky Memorial Track was dedicated in April, 1988 and concluded 25 years of racing with this meet. Tony Plansky was our 60's track coach. His named track came 20 years after we departed & closes for racing 25 years later! Where have all the "flowers" gone?:).
