The Suffern, NY area is the place to be - if you haven’t made travel arrangement yet, consider Suffern - it’s close to the meet (30 minutes) and has many reasonably priced hotels nearby, including two Choice hotels (a OUSA sponsor - see the OUSA website for the special rate code) and restaurants. It’s also nearby the planned junior activities.
Find the Junior Standing Team and the Junior Development Team!
They’re lost at the meet and it’s your job to find them.
Stay tuned for more details.
Sandwich Sale and Bake Sale!
There will be a bake sale at the meet as a fundraiser for the Junior Standing and Junior Development Teams - help out by bringing baked goods and sandwiches and volunteering at the bake sale. Sign up by contacting LisaTFrost@gmail.com
Time: 11:00 am - 2:00 pm
Location: Saturday at Camp Buckner and Sunday at Trophy Point.
Saturday Night BBQ at the Bretons!
The Bretons are hosting a BBQ at their home on Saturday, April 27th.
Time: 6:00 pm
Location: 26 E Mayer Dr, Suffern NY 10901
A $5 per person donation is requested to help cover the costs.
Menu will be beverages, pasta, salad, burgers, chicken, hot dogs.
Junior parents are welcome also. RSVP liisa@finnchurch.org.
Please note that we will also have chips and drinks. Please plan to get your lunch from the Junior Concession and help send some kids to Europe this summer.
Also please note that this is NOT going to be like the junior team concessions of past years, at West Point, which featured grllled foods (burgers, dogs, sausages).
Those were organized by the amazing Janet & Denny Porter, who have retired from this tiring but very much appreciated venture. In fact, this year's organizers are avoiding the term "concession" in recognition of their historic efforts.
But that is where the differences end. This sale will still be he staffed by juniors, the proceeds will still be used to fund junior programs (JWOC, training camps, travel,...), and the offerings will still be tempting and delicious. And those purchasing items will still be deserving of our unending gratitude.
Please also note that those interested in donating a little more, and get an extra premium lunch at West Point, can sign up ahead of time at our
Indiegogo campaign.
For clarification, the Bretons' evening BBQ is for all juniors and their parents, and of course anyone else the Bretons personally invite.
The lunches are for anyone who wants to buy one.
Is there a silent auction this year?
No - no space for it. However, we're still hoping to get an eBay thing going, and to do some education around it at West Point.
Please note: Floor space and tent space available at BBQ venue. First come first serve. Contact me to reserve a spot or take your chance when you show up.
Juniors looking to spend some extra days before or after training in Harriman are welcome.
