What a horrific accident! :(

One of the 5 injured bikers is still in critical condition.

Every year about this time I get a serious cycling jones. I've been working on bikes all week. My closest call was 100% my fault. I was decending a hill and a Chevy Blazer passed me. I watched it pass me, then looked up at the next turn. Ahhh! I grabbed brake and leaned, but I got into the gravel, and my rear brake kept locking up and sliding out (about four times in four seconds, I'd guess). Right in the middle, I looked at my bike computer for some reason. 44mph. I was 14 inches from the guardrail. If I'd gone over, I'd have hit trees on a 45degree slope. No one knew where I was. I wouldn't have been found for days. A few years ago, I read an article about motorcycle racers. Apparently, these guys, who pretty much define "insane", think riding on roads is just *too* dangerous. Please be careful out there.
