For those that participated in the 'Hood Hunt last weekend in Kansas City, here are the answers.

And for reference, the official map and question files.

Some of you probably discovered that the answer to #12 is no longer there. Sadly, the gnomes partying on the porch are gone. We designed the course during our previous visit to Kansas City in December, and there was one casualty.

For those who participated, what was your favorite checkpoint?

Also, if you want to share routes and times, you can do that in this thread, too!

Fran and I got to about 10 of the western ones Friday afternoon. Very enjoyable. With the variety of statues and other features, it's an ideal venue for a Hood Hunt. No favorite sight, but the "two bells" was the most challenging. Not used to looking up so high so Fran had reassure herself, "Yes, this really is the correct corner." Good training.

Minor correction: #25. Date is not that of sculptor. I think is was birth date of man for whom the statue was dedicated.

Answers? Looks to be the Question File.

I'm going to try to set up one on Arch Grounds for a public event there.

Link fixed. I accidentally pasted the same link (to the questions) twice.

#11 was my favorite checkpoint. Most familiar setting for a control.
I got 35 out of 39, 36/40 if you count getting to the circle where the gnomes used to live. 1:28:54 total time
Skipped 35,38,39,40

Thanks for setting this up. It was the first time I ran outside since January.

Thanks! #11 would be pretty tricky in the summer once the leaves are out. I was hoping that spring would have sprung enough by last weekend to make that one a little more hidden in there. That was one of the harder questions to write. I definitely knew I wanted to use it as a checkpoint, but there wasn't anything obvious to ask about it.

I did the event earlier on Saturday afternoon (and therefore missed the rain) and really enjoyed it. So often we fly to another city to go orienteering and never get to see any of the actual city we're visiting. This event showed a cool neighborhood of Kansas City. I was a bit nervous about doing the event between two blue courses, but it didn't seem to affect my performance on Sunday too much.
I also liked the multi choice format of the answers - made recording preserve at controls much easier than at other similar events I've been to.

I went to 23 controls on the eastern half of the map in just under an hour. Thanks Patrick for setting it up.
