I think I might regret saying this, but, "Hey Mike, looks like your groin is doing better!"
:)

Am I reading the results correctly...looks like the winning time on the M20 long was 140 mins, in two loops. What were the lengths and climbs?
Nice run by Louise in the short, btw...
Not quite, Eddie. Two races one 10.9 km with allegedly 210m climb, the other 10.5 km with, I think, a more plausibly alleged 200m climb.
And, perhaps despite appearances, orienteering is still not a full contact sport. Speaking of the photo, I guess I haven't actually seen Katta in action much - I'm interested to see that she's carrying her compass in her non-map hand along with her SI card.
Anybody planning to post some maps? Or some explanation of what's going on in the photo linked above?
I imagine we can count on Randy to post maps. The photo was taken at the go control in the sprint showcase. Some light rain began falling while people were out on course, mostly wearing non-O shoes. The perhaps predictable consequence is that with Katta breathing down her neck Louise lost traction when she tried to slow down enough to punch and took out the control. Katta recovered well from her evident surprise, lifting the stand between Louise's legs halfway to vertical and punching with considerable aplomb.
Mike W. also went down on this control but in a much less photogenic way.
The faces of the girls spectating are great - one shocked, one preplexed, one laughing, and one curious... What a great candid shot of one and all!
Yeah, looks like someone dropped aplomb on them.
Two highlights for me:
1) Did you hear about the Canadian and the Swede going into the corner to punch the control and only the Swede emerges, awesome sprint race, the spectators were really into it.
2) Walking into the Williams Lake Public Library with Juha and finding J-Roc (name now changed from J-Tor to match Can-Con regulations.) J-Tor was still in his O-Gear and on Attackpoint. If you have wheels like him, you can wear what you want in the library.

What would Don Cherry say?
btw.. congrats to Sam S. who had some great races and ended up 3rd overall! Way to go Sam!
Not that it wouldn't be in character for me to enter a library still in my O gear, but on this occasion I had since racing changed into my Trimtex warmup pants and some shirt or other almost certainly not qualifying as O gear. I'd even showered.
Some photos from the sprint at the COC's are
here . They were taken by Marta Green.
In the link Boris listed you will see in this

that my punching technique is not much better than Louise's. In fact, we both wore the same brand of shoes. The LaSportiva $59 at MEC specials were not up to the task but if it wasn't raining Salal and I would have been hard to beat! ;-)
Looks like that bag was trying to get away and Hammer successfully wrestled it to the ground. Sounds like an event you'd see at the Lake George Corral...
It looks like they've got Mike W. listed in the wrong category. Isn't he
M65?
