Just remembered something that was on ONA years ago, but can't find it online. Does this mean that the only way to find it is to retrieve it from my box in a closet or basement and find the paper copy?

Would you like to make a contribution to Orienteering USA's archivist/librarian? if each member contributed a few hundred dollars, Orienteering USA may be able to afford one!

Let me know what date/issue you need. I might be able to find my paper copy for you.

Good for you having the back issues of ONA. I had every issue - every issue including the demo edition distributed at the US Champs at Hawn State Park back in '84 - of the Berman era ONA in a box. I had a long string of issues of Skogssport and Skarmen as well. When I moved and downsized I made a quick decision and the magazines went to recycling to be turned in to fibre box or newsprint or toilet paper. It took about one month before I wanted to find some information in an old ONA. 'You don't know what you've got until its gone'.
On the other hand I do have duplicate copies of the old Orienteering Canada from the Hunter era as editor. Any interest?

I´ve got unbroken issues of Skogsport since 1978 and Skärmen from 1938-1987 (not quite complete) if there´s something you want to know...
Not to the full joy of my wife though since this is also accompanied by all my maps in binders since 1966 + lots of other assorted junk ;-)

There has been some effort by OUSA to digitize back issues. Greg L can probably say more about the status of that.

I think some/all of the Berman-era issues have been scanned, but none are available online yet.

That would be a wonderful contribution to North American orienteering to have those online, and it would be fair, IMHO, to charge to access them.

But maybe free access for members of OUSA?

With their permission, I have scanned all ONA issues through the Berman era, and will be putting them online on (or linked to) the OUSA site.

If you need an article in the meantime (or need to do a search, since they are searchable), contact me directly and I'll be glad to help.

This is great, Greg!

I seem to recall one issue there was a cover photo of the PG Wheeties box. I bet that ends up being the most searched item.

Greg, do you know about the "online" edition from last year? (2011) I have an archive of all paper copies, but the online editrion was taken down after a little over a year. While the work involved in scanning is extensive and greatly appreciated, storage space is cheap. I've previously mentioned my concerns about preserving an archive of the online editions, but to my knowledge, the 2011 one is gone.

Donna is the person to speak to about any post-Berman ONA issue.

It's possible to save the ONA Digital issues as PDF.

I have (on my computer and backup hard drive) a copy of 2011's; Donna would have to give permission to share it online (but I could send you the 34 MB PDF file if you want...). 2012's is 50 MB.

What is the reason that one cannot subscribe to magazines like ONA and CompassSport and receive the copy as an e-mailed PDF file? It seems to me that would be a win-win.
