We should form a series together.

This April 13 event covers the whole "Silicon Valley" from the bay to the foothills, and many cities in addition to San Jose.

I put on one of these in San Francisco, Oakland, and surroundings March 2012 (Twelve hours and six hours only) and I have the maps from those on the event page for this year's event.

I'm not aware of any 24-hour ones. But there should be another round of Night & Challenges in Seattle and San Fran that are 16...

Public transit may be a hard sell to other organizers... unless transit-allowed and no-transit are separate categories.

Wow, there are some things. Is no North American city safe enough for a 24 hour?

I remember waiting at a bus stop in Long Beach near Los Angeles after 10:00 at night. I heard a man talking to another man about spending the night sleeping on a latenight bus that runs all night. Because he didn't feel safe sleeping somewhere outside.

In Seattle, the 16-hour Night & Day goes from 4pm to 8am. And all of the regular Street Scrambles usually go from 10am-1pm. By that logic, the most unsafe times of day are from 8am-10am and 1pm-4pm.

I would actually agree: on any given weekend, the most dangerous time for navigating on streets in San Francisco is Saturday afternoon. Traffic is calmer before and after. Of course, any weekday evening is worse than Saturday afternoon.

I think many North American cities are safer than San Francisco, and possibly than Seattle; and this given that San Francisco isn't particularly unsafe. The Silicon Valley area is probably safer than most places on the West Coast as far as crime, but definitely not in terms of traffic—watch out crossing those dedicated right turn/merge lanes!
