Wondering what everyone's favourite orienteering moment of 2012 has been?

Emily Kemp JWOC bronze.

Yeah, tough to match that. Hats off to Emily

For me, there was another great moment in my role as IOF Event Advisor about six weeks before NAOCs started when I knew with certainty (uncharacteristic for me) that it was going to be spectacular - that all the creativity, planning, and work of DVOA was going to razzle dazzle everyone.
(barring any really, really bad luck).

Hats off too to Clem, Sandy, Petr, Sam, Tom, and the rest of the organizers.

[EDIT] - and to the Eddies for the spectacular hitech!

Sticking strictly to USA moments, hiring Erin as the Junior Team Coach was a biggie.

Emily JWOC bronze is definitely the top. After that... how about Bertuks finishing first on the 1st leg of Jukola? I remember doing something of a double take as he ran in, but it turns out that was just the beginning for him this year!

Matt Ogden's JWOC gold for NZ! Hard to beat that!

I'll go for that one too, and I'm not even a New Zealander.

tRicky successfully finishing the Christmas 5 Days without mispunching is my highlight.

Emily and NAOC - both amazing!

I'll go along with Immy's choice. I think even allowing for a bit of patriotic and personal bias on our part that was a pretty awesome achievement. But agree that Emily K and Bertuks have also had a pretty good year.

Personal highlight would be the latter parts of the NZ champs sprint (after a bad start). Feeling in perfect contact with the map while running at (for me) high speed through a tight little maze of buildings is a nice feeling, one I hope to experience again one day!

And on the flip side, what was the worst thing? I'll nominate the Hudson Highlander being cancelled on account of a fugitive murderer.

For me (a biased North American), definitely Emily getting a bronze at JWOC. Runner up is Ali's WOC relay run with Sam holding her own against the other leg 3 runners. Honerable mention--Matt Ogden's gold at JWOC.
