"Sprint" might be more "Short Middlle" in length.

Being our first Turkey O' weekend and to lessen map-copying stress, people can mark course and plan routes Friday evening after supper. You are welcome to stay secretive or to share notes. For those arriving Saturday, there will be plenty of time and less crowding.

Early long-term forecast is dry and in the 50's.

Low 40's, sunny, no wind - perfect for the run! turn out of 62. Old map with trails updated - mostly open oak forests.

I've rechecked scores. Will divide into categories and get results to webmaster - probably tonight. 900 possible points with 36 controls (29 on Shirley Quad map; 7 on Trout Lodge map). Official top 15.
NOTE: 4 of top 8 are women!

1. Marical Olaru (CAOC) - 700 - Mostly a perimeter run to get all nine 40's and lots along the way.
2. Dave Frei (SLOC) - 670 - Did north loop and then west route for big pointers - caught only a few on way in.
3. Hannah Culberg (USMA) - 560 - Ignored north loop; hit all other 30 & 40-pointers plus quite a few lower points.
4. Natalia (CAOC) - 460 - Similar to Hannah's but skiped far south and only 1 TL control.
5. Wangkii (CAOC) - 440
6. John Andrews - 420
7. Melissa Kelley (SLOC) - 420
8. Leann Young (SLOC) - 410
9. Charlie Shabazian (CAOC) - 410
10. Dave Welsh (SLOC) - 410
11. Scott Kelley - (SLOC) -380
12 Chris Svoboda (CAOC) - 470
13. Bill Langton (SLOC) - 360
14. Jeff Sona (SLOC) - 360
15. Ben Langton (SLOC) - 340

With a big map, I chose to design a "No Sweep" course (25K perhaps). Goal: even the best were faced with very tough choices on route planning, which 'on the way controls' to skip, and how to finish. Also mid-level orienteers had LOTS of accessible controls with no obvious routes.

Sorry about mis-hung #35 - my fault! I drew one circle on one of 6 Master Maps on depression, not rockface. (Fixed Friday night) Unfortunately, that was the map I used to hang controls AND I forgot to bring clue sheet with me. Hanging the control, I did not find my tape and I really disliked the feature!

If "someone" could post maps, please do!
