Has anyone else had a problem with these shoes wearing out/coming apart prematurely? I've owned 3 pairs, and while I really like this shoe, it just doesn't seem to hold up.

Most recently, I took a 1month old pair to the 24 hr Thunder Rolls AR. The tread started peeling off about 8 hours into the race. Very frustrating, as these are not cheap shoes and they were very new.

I called the folks at Hi-Tec and they seem to think I'm full of crap. I also sent an email with photos and have heard nothing back.

I really want to think this is an isolated incident, but am curious what everyone else's experience has been. And if I do need to buy different shoes, whom do you recommend?

Thanks for the help,
bob

Perhaps you need those shoes which have heals.

The Hi Tec shoes fell apart prematurely.
The manufacturer did not compensate you for the problem.
Vote with money and buy another brand.

I recommend the "Salomon XA Pro 3D Ultra 2", which have proven functional and durable.

Others around here seem to really like the Inov8 brand for lighter weight shoes. Although one can probably assume that lighter weight shoes will be less durable.
