An apt name as I recall from a painful rogaine we did through that area back once upon a time. Even d2r2 might be better.
The first bit was indeed very thick, but the middle part down at the south end (which PG skipped) was the most glorious open woods you could possibly hope for. Nothing underfoot whatsoever.
I don't think I encounted nary a one laurel bush all day on Saturday......
But I might well have if I'd been going where you were.

That's true, though to get up to the area in question takes a pretty long course -- the northernmost few controls from the 2008 Billygoat were in the same area as the southernmost controls on this course (#3 from 2008 was about 50 meters from #5 this weekend). It may be that it's a special little wonderful spot; I recall there being a lot of blueberry south of there.
