Discussion: Western Canadian Championships Moving?

Do any APers know anything about this from the event website for the Western Canadian Orienteering Championships?

WOCC Long & Middle - due to land access issues the location of the WOCC Long & Middle is currently being reviewed

How serious is the land access issue? Will there still likely be an event in the Calgary area?

I only know what I was told at barebones, so this may not be official or may have changed. That due to access issues at the original site near Bragg Creek they were looking at moving the Middle to Fish Creek Park in Calgary; and the long to the MacKenzie Crossing map. Apparently they have mappers and will be on top of ensuring good maps on short notice. MacKenzie crossing is west of Big Valley, where hwy #590 crosses the Red Deer River.

MacKenzie Crossing is not available that weekend, so the next choice was Rumsey, but now Alberta Parks is involved (land stewardship changes...) and that is not smooth sailing either. But we WILL have something for the long distance WCOCs!
Round and round on Nose Hill? After all, XC skiing is tending to short loops for the TV audience!
The new location for the middle is all but certain, near Calgary. We will try and post info on this and the long ASAP.

Hi Nina, the next regis deadline before the price increase has been changed to July 10.

Next regis deadline is July 15 not July 10.
