OA site is back up now.

BJ has some recent form 3rd in a sprint against some middle-ranked (100+) Europeans and 45/55, 8 mins down, in a classy middle won by Pasi Ikonen. But, he's still shown in IOF rankings as belonging to GBR, and his ranking of 309 is lower than Bruce, D Brownridge, L Hallett, Ev, JoshyB and C Naunton, and not much higher than Ecmo, Hoggster and Blair.

Not sure whether the selectors have used these or other non-WRE events as the basis, however in the absence of Robbie and Shep, and with his previous WOC experience, a useful addition for the sprint and relay - provided the nationality issue is fixed. Good job orienteering is not in the Olympics where it isn't easy to change nationality.

just curious - someone once told me that a person can change from country A to B to C... etc, easily enough but going back (C to B, B to A, etc) is not allowed. I have no reason to think that is true, but has anyone from OA actually checked if BJ is legally allowed to run for for Australia? I would assume they have.

Orienteering is not in the Olympics but IOF does belong to IOC (???) so Olympic sort of rules may apply

Whether or not it's allowed, it's certainly happened in the past. One example: Nick (Duca) has run for Romania, then Canada, then Romania, then Canada.

Only rule is that you can only represent one federation in any calendar year and that you must hold a passport for any country you represent. Has happened a few times with Irish/British runners as well as some Dutch/Norwegian runners in the past as well as Romania/Canada, so not unusual.
