Garmin, maker of the Forerunner, will advertise in this year's Superbowl:

Not sure I like maps being made the villain, though. I like to think I AM a Maposaurus. Only not an evil one. And the guy's a dweeb.

That can't be a real ad. I like Garmin, but the commercial is terrible. Really.

No, it's definitely for real. I think it's supposed to be campy. But terrible is how it turned out.

No kidding. Laser-peeing on the map at the end is a bit over the top too.

4 out of 5 stars. The music could be better (think Beasty Boys "intergalactic")
As far as spoofing power rangers and Godzilla movies, they did a good job.

Actually, the 'Power Rangers' look of the ad will speak to my 6-year old son better than any of the O-promotional videos I have seen.

Hehe, L-Jackson, do you think your son will fork out the cash for a Garmin system for his dad's car?

One can dream can't they?

Even though I have a mind of my own (maybe), I think my kids have some influence on a good portion of my consumer decisions.

It looked more like Ultraman than a Power Ranger to me.

An interview with the Maposaurus!

oh my gosh - that has to be one of the worst adverts I've ever seen - and I've seen some bad ones :)

So, suppose if BooksOnPodcast.com ran an ad featuring the Book Beast, where a book was snapping at people and chomping on things, and the message was, "Hey, it's the 21st century! Why read? Just listen to everything on your MP3 player! Defeat the nasty Book Beast!". This is no different as far as I'm concerned. But maybe that's where we're heading.
