Discussion: 1 week left for regular registration!

Just a reminder that regular registration closes at midnight on April 15 - just 1 week from today!

We only have 60 participants registered so far, so I'm guessing there are a lot of you out there who are planning on coming, but just haven't registered yet. Avoid those late fees and get that done this week!

Will you be offering the $20-off coupon? I wanted to promote this to HVO members, but saw nothing about it on the event site. Would hate to see A-newbies' savings wiped out by late fees. ($19 for those participating in all 3 races)

BTW, your site is not linked from the Planning Calendar, which might have kept your numbers down.

The A-meet discount coupons come from Glen Schorr, and are generally available a few weeks before the event, at which time they're also added to the OUSA site. I'm sure one will be forthcoming for this event like all the others.

The A-meets are listed here and here. Do a lot of people go to the Planning Calendar to decide which events to go to?

The Planning Calendar is my go-to source for, well, planning.

The AP calendar has too many events to sift through, and the OUSA calendar only includes events after they are sanctioned.

BTW, for the West Point A-event, that first OUSA page only has links to online registration (in that annoying i-frame -- unlike the link from here), plus the registration list.

*Edit 4/09/12: Thank you Janet for adding the W Pt event link to that page!

Yes, we will honor the A meet newbie saving.

Not sure why we aren't linked on the Planning Calendar - website is the same as always. I'll have to email Mike and ask him to add the link in.

This is entirely unrelated to the rest of this thread, but this picture amuses me. I hope it didn't hurt on the way down or having any lasting ill effects!

Protip: when possible, make contact with the ground using the sole of the shoes, which tend to have better traction than the other surfaces.

@hannah: the reason is because your website wasn't live when Mike added the listing, way back when it went through sanctioning, and he doesn't trawl the web for things to update - it's up to you to tell him if nobody else does.

Same explanation for the "first OUSA page" Guy mentioned (since updated).

As for the "annoying iframe," if you/anyone can volunteer to speed up database integration (Drupal skilz?), please live with it for the time being. It's not that bad for registration; for viewing the Reglist I'm sending folks over to Kent's server because that IS a pain to view in the iframe.

@ian,
Discover orienteering. Discover the forest floor.

@JanetT: I often use the planning calendar for an overview of the upcoming schedule both because it's more complete, with events in the sanctioning process, and it's much easier to read at a glance. I usually go to a meet's website and keep track of events via AP.

@ian - nope, just looked epic. No permanent damage done. :)

@feet - thanks for the explanation. Last time I was really dealing with that side of the meet, I think the planning calendar was linked to our main site, so I could be lazy and not really worry about it. Will have to add that into the the permanent task list for our registration/website people in future years.

@ian, @JanetT: I also use the planning calendar (and did before I was sanctioning chair too). It's much more complete and I like the one-line event listings.

Heh, our event had the exact opposite problem. "O, ftw!" was on the planning calendar for a long, long, time, but we didn't get on the O-USA's site until 3 months after sanctioning.

*edit: "O-USA's site" meaning this page:
