Very cool! This site should be added as a link of attackpoint.
Am I oversuspicious? I wouldn't want to put my name on such a map. Particularly not with any contact details.
Well,
whitepages.com gives pretty easy access to my location, so...
I had a bug on my computer, so I asked Janne (the designer of the page) if he knew about it. His answer:
> Yep. There seems to a limit for amount of markers ;(
> I might have solution for that but it´ll take some time.
> Before that you may look only one at the time.
> (or download orienteers.kml to Google Earth)
here's
something (unfinished) I've been sitting on for about a year. it shows only rough locations, and you need to be signed in and have your own location set in order for it to work.
Sweet, more visual verification that I'm isolated these days. ;-)
That's very neat.
Zoom out, Cristina. At least you're not nmulder.
Attack Point continues to amaze! There's actually 2 of us under nmulder's pin, which makes 3 for Africa
Ken, this is totally cool! AP crowd en masse!
Very cool Ken - way to go!
Looks like there is nobody in Montana, North Dakota, South Dakota, Nebraska, Nevada, Utah, Oklahoma, Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, Georgia, Florida, South Carolina, Arkansas, Alaska, and Hawaii. That's 16 states.
There are orienteers, just not people on Attackpoint, in some (maybe many?) of those states. I think AP needs a new marketing effort. :-) Or maybe not...
Hm, well I know of people on AP from Arkansas, Louisianna, and Alaska so either they haven't entered their location, or not everyone's on the map...?
And what if your location doesn't exist? I've been trying for years to enter mine but it keeps rejecting it. Anti Canadians maybe?
As far as I understand Kenny is using an already existing weather service for his locations. Some 'minor' places are not available - more so in Sweden and other out of the way countries (Canada?). I had to put my location as Stockholm - it´s only a two hour drive from Borlänge where I live. But it felt better than Uppsala, which is closer, or Malung which is the closest - but they are one of our 'worst local rivals' ;-)
Yeah, thats what I meant. No Attackpointers in those states. We need to market Attackpoint to the clubs in those states.
It's funny to see that the O-sport is all over the world.
Most of them live in snowy European countries where you can follow the footprints in the snow. In America, we have car orieteering, which is a lot of fun, especially with our Tom Tom GPS systems. Have you found Bjorg yet?
From what I have heard, there aren't any "snowy European countries" this year. The JWC/U23WC races just got postponed until March!
Barbie, I guess Vernon isn't significant enough to make the list. Your closest option might be Armstrong ... which is included! (Better than Coldstream ... Australia :-).
We got snow the last two days...just when I was convinced that it never got below +10C for a high here. Nice thing about this European country, it's their O season here when it's not O season in Scandinavia.

We finally got our share of snow (in Sweden) about two weeks ago - and the temps this week have been way below -20C for a couple of days. So it turned into winter at last with a lot of skiing the last few days. We'll see how long this lasts...
