Speaking of beer, the annual QOC Beer Chase is this Sunday, June 5 at Patapsco SP (McKeldin unit) near Baltimore, MD. This is also the QOC club picnic and the weather is looking pretty nice - sunny and warm...perfect for a few cold ones. I train on this map occasionally - its nice open forest, and Ted Good has been making some updates here and there. For non-beer drinkers there are soda-pop and plain water categories. All are welcome!

The race format is usually 3 loops. 1 cup of beer at the start, run a loop of several controls, then another beer, another loop, another beer, another loop, and then a beer to finish (yes, 4 beers and 3 sprints in the span of less than an hour!), followed by a bring-your-own-stuff picnic/potluckish (grills provided).

I'll never forget the year at Great Falls when Pam James and I punched together at the last control. I *knew* she could out drink me, so I had to sprint for all I was worth to get a few extra seconds ahead :)

I remember that year... the drinking aspect was the only thing I was somewhat competent at.
