Does anyone want to do some, seeing as it doesn't look like we're getting lasting snow any time soon? Informal, probably with streamers, but not much else.

Hannah, how far can you feasibly make it in a day? Could we manage East CT or is West better for you?

To comment further, I'm thinking Peekskill ish area this weekend, then maybe something like Gay City/Brainard on one of the other weekends.

If it's more than a 2 hour drive, it starts to get painful, so West CT would certainly be nicer. That being said, if it's on a weekend where I don't have to be at school for anything, I could always drive out Friday and crash on someone's floor for the weekend.

I will be thinking of you guys playing while I do my special playing...

I may be able set something in Gay City or Wolf Den, more likely later in the month also pending NEOC permission to use map.

Becky, I'd be up for something in Peekskill this weekend. I haven't orienteered much since high school but ran a few US events last year.

Cool! Peekskill (probably Blue Mountain) is probably happening, on Sunday.

Cmorse, that sounds great for later in the month. I currently have the weekends of 4/5th and 18th/19th free - the very last weekend we're off to California (Yippee!).

Which I guess means I should plan something near New Haven (maybe Paugusset - does that work for ndobbs and hannah and others who I don't know?) for the 4th/5th?
Jan 24, 2012 3:57 PM #
rtculberg:
Paugusset is a very reasonable distance and the 4th/5th is great for me.

I planned training there for the training camp that I never did myself, so that would seem to be a good plan. I might even still have maps printed. There was some contour only and something else I can't remember...

Sounds cool! This Sunday I'll be down in Ringwood SP, NJ in the afternoon, in case folks feel like heading down there instead/as well. I'm re-using some old maps from an HVO event there last fall. I'm also available on Feb 4 and Paugusett (near Newtown, CT?) is close enough for me for a day trip. I need to be back in NY on the 5th, so I unfortunately cannot make it a weekend of O.

Becks - still likely to happen? Do you have a time in mind for Sunday?
Jan 27, 2012 9:19 PM #
Becks:
Yes, we will be there, just waiting for my Kiwis to get home from NYC to fix plans. We will likely be there (Blue Mountain) early on Sunday, as they have a plane to catch later in the day. I don't see why others would necessarily need to arrive when we do though!

Will post a few more details shortly when we've firmed things up a bit.

That's actually excellent for me, as I need to be back at school around 1400. So you will have some company in the early morning!

8:30 ready to run at my place, Fremont St, first house on the right after you turn off Hudson Ave towards Depew Park.

If you miss it, I'll probably leave maps out on the porch. Let me know if you are coming. There are a limited number of premarked maps.

Hannah/Krille, you're on the list, as is Dave.
