in: US Individual Championships (Sprint/Middle/Long/Trail) (Apr 13–15, 2012 - Carrollton, GA, US)

We just received word that the hotels in Carrollton, Georgia are filling up. The Hampton Inn is booked solid and the next two on our list are are next. While there are a lot of hotels in Carrollton, they don't have a lot of rooms, so we encourage you to book your hotel rooms soon. If all rooms fill up in Carrollton, the next best town to stay in is Newnan, GA.

Were rooms blocked at any of the hotels?

ONA:
The Holiday Inn Express Carrollton still had rooms yesterday but limited selection. And, the best rates, by far, are the non-refundable variety.

I think the Super 8 still had rooms as of last night too.

@ Guy -- see Bulletin 1 (pdf). The website doesn't reflect this information.

The best western says they have no record of rooms being set aside for the meet.

Our event website has a list of hotels on the lodging page:
http://www.ousa2012.org/index.php/lodging.

We've blocked rooms at the Hampton Inn and Jameson Inn. Been trying to get a letter of agreement with Best Western but they haven't send the letter yet. if they don't respond soon, I'll consider them not interested in our business and will take them off our list.

@JanetT: Only the Hampton block is mentioned in Bulletin 1.

@Laurie: Are all Hampton rooms booked, or just the block?

Non-refundable lodging bookings suck. Apparently every travel business wants to be like the airlines. However, I once did get a refund from a hotel at which I stayed only 1 of 2 nights because of an approaching blizzard -- though it took some persistence.

EDIT:
Super 8's advance purchase apparently IS refundable with 3-days cancellation notice.
One room w/ 2 double beds, non-smoking = $42.50/night+tax (~$49/nt incl tax)

check tripadvisor reviews for super 8 first.

I drove thru the area a few times in the past. It looked deprived.
It is hard to expect to find decent hotels in the vicinity of the venue.

IMO, staying west of Atlanta on I20 or I85 in a decent hotel and driving 20-30 miles to the park might be not a bad choice, after all.

About camping: last year on April 15th it was in mid 80s, and very humid here.
