There is much to examine, but there also is much to do. Solving the optimization problem of life is surprisingly difficult. Fortunately for all of us, homeostasis usually kicks in shortly after we find a suboptimal solution, and we find contentment. I suppose our utility function, the objective in the optimization, actually changes. But how are you supposed to optimize when your objective fluctuates!?
Maybe I'll just go drink.
