Thanks for the quick results. Looks like Buckley's got some speed going on. I'd better go look at his training and see what he's been doing...

Thank you Dick, Mike and the rest of your crew for a great event. Everything hot, the fire, the drinks, the chili, and the potatoes were much appreciated today. Lisa and I had another great weekend in KC; you guys seem to specialize in making memorable events.

The potatoes were especially good for warming your hands after the meet. Thanks for 10 great Trots!

Sounds like I missed a great weekend! When's next year's? ;-)

Always 2 weekends after Thanksgiving (or, 1 weekend after the SLOC 3-hour, depending on which date strikes you as more significant.)

It's always the first weekend in December.

Next year's dates are December 1 and 2.

As always an excellent job on the course setting by Mike S. I definitely will bring an ice axe and crampons next year or maybe just buy some icebugs .

For those of you who ran the sprint on the KU Campus:

1. Did you have any trouble with traffic when crossing the roads or parking lots?

2. Did you have any trouble with foot traffic on the campus?

3. Did you have any trouble with stairs?

ebuckley:
1. Not really - had to go straight across at 2 and again at 16 to avoid oncoming cars (the direct path would have been at an angle, but only a second or so slower).

2. No.

3. No - was wearing spikes.

iriharding:
1) very little traffic ...only had to watch for 1 car
2) no foot traffic (unless you count other orienteers)
3) no problem with the stairs

1. A few cars on the road between #15 and #16, couldn't cross quite where I would have otherwise, probably made no difference in time though.
2. No.
3. Fell going down the stairs south of the passage on the way to #7. Not wearing spikes.

igoup:
1) Slight slow-down/pause crossing from C15-C16 as there were cars coming both directions
2) None that I couldn't take care of -- profs know how to handle students who are in the way.
3) No. Was careful not to trip over my own feet but they were all dry.

pfc:
1) No problem with cars.
2) A few students gawking at the men running around in tights, but not in the way at all.
3) Don't remember any problems with stairs, more issues on the N side of buildings and in courtyards. No spikes, obviously (big mistake there.)

The sprint was nicely set - I liked the transition to longer "middle distance" legs after #16. I hope you get a chance to use the map again in subsequent years. I also think it would be fun to reverse the order and start with longer legs, then change to fine sprint-O in the middle.

1. Raced one car between #2 and #3.
2. No.
3. Fell going down the stairs SW of #11 going to #12. Wearing spikes and fell in a location with no ice, just slipped on the studs.

1. Got hit by a car....got up.....beat the guy up.....kept going.....30 s error....
2. Ran in to some sorority girls on the N side of the map.....invited me to a kegger......drank a keg.....kept going.....
3. Very cauitous on the stairs......had visions on a big blow out on these.....some were scary some were fine.

Well done Gouger. Apparently the same thing happened to MrPither in the NAOC sprint on the MAC campus (yeah and he still won).

#2 for me though! Nobody passes up a free kegger!

Sweatshirt? On first pass, I left a gray "Upper Peninsula" sweatshirt at the water stop. It was still there around 11:30 or noon, but had been picked up before the crew got out there sunday afternoon.

If it kept someone warm, great! But if anyone has it, I'd like to hear from you. (I've already checked with Dick.)
