Not actually sure how bad 9 is, but guessing it's low... good luck stomaching the iron, it'll come back!

9! Yikes! Some research suggests that ferritin should be around 45 for elite athletes. Have you starting supplementing? Here's a few things that have helped me..... It does take quite a while for the supplements to kick in so you need to keep taking them at least a couple months - and likely more. Be sure to have red meat at least a couple times a week if you can (bison is a good option). And lots of sardines, oysters, etc. And put pumpkin seeds on everything! And take your supplement with orange juice and away from dairy.
