Any idea on how to get this "sponsored" by the COF? Not looking for any money, just some kind of approval to make it more official. Although it would be great if we could figure out some way to offer financial aid to Canadian Juniors as well. Does the federation already offer travel grants that Juniors could access for this trip?

Hammer:
Be sure to visit Kelvington, SK.

Oh, and if anyone is interested in being a chaperone, let me know.

Note that this will likely include the 2007 Sass Peepre annual national junior training camp.

jfredrickson:
Ooh, good point. I'll make sure to advertise that.

Hammer, what's the attraction in Kelvington?

Suzanne:
This sounds like a great trip!

>Hammer, what's the attraction in Kelvington?

Any Leafs fan would know ... so you better ask NevMonster.

Wow, this looks like a great trip. Wish I could commit to go as a chaperone. Though I'm not sure other, more responsible adults would appreciate my style of "chaperoning". ;-)

GOUGER:
Kelvington....the home of one Wendal Clark.....former heart and soul of the leafs.....great moustache......must be the mayor now......by the way.....LEAFS SUCK....not much to see or do in Kelvington.....that I know of.....W.Clark hall of fame.....???
Nov 15, 2006 5:31 AM #
Nev-Monster:
Gouger beat me to it. Not only is some of my family from Kelvington, but it's produced many NHLers, such as Joey Kocer and one of the worst mullets ever, Barry Melrose.
Leafs suck? Now let me sit back and think about all those great Jets playoff victories....

El Chucko:
yeah, the leafs haven't won the cup since what, 1967. The most successful hockey team of the last 25 years is.....wait for it...the Edmonton Oilers (cups, finals appearances). I would love to go on the trip, but no idea when I will be back from australia.

John, This is an excellent idea and another step forward for North American orienteering. Like Barbie has said several times already...John for President.

Jets? Aren't they a football team?

Why do/did so many hockey players sport mullets?
Nov 15, 2006 1:30 PM #
Cristina:
Wouldn't you if you could get away with it?
Nov 15, 2006 2:52 PM #
bubo:
Mullet??

Had to look this one up - I kind of guessed, though - this is what I found on Wikipedia...

"The Swedish term is hockeyfrilla, which means "ice hockey haircut" in reference to its popularity among some hockey players."
Nov 15, 2006 3:05 PM #
Cristina:
I didn't believe you, so I had to look myself... and now I know that my next haircut will be a skullet.

Don't knock the Leafs. Tim Horton was a Leaf and he is a god.
Nov 15, 2006 7:12 PM #
BorisGr:
I still can't believe that Canada's greatest fast food chain was started by a hockey player.
Nov 15, 2006 7:13 PM #
j-man:
I think there's something we can learn from that.
Nov 15, 2006 8:05 PM #
jfredrickson:
Since everyone in Canada is a hockey player, that's not too surprising Boris.

And if I may stray back to the topic for a second, the info page has been updated with possible attractions to visit during the trip. If anyone knows of anything else interesting in the area, please let me know.

> I still can't believe that Canada's greatest fast food chain was started by a hockey player.

....In Hamilton I might add.

But doesn't the US have Stan Makita's?

OK, since the tour is going into the heart of hockeyland -SK (most NHL hockey players per capita) I'll donate $75 to John if he gets a mullet for (or on) the "O" tour.
Nov 15, 2006 8:43 PM #
jfredrickson:
I wouldn't do it for $75 (especially not 75 CAD), but I might consider being mullet buddies with you Hammer. After you of course ;)
